In a whirlwind of creativity and innovation, we attended a three-day startup event, called the Innovation Sprint, that brought together over 50 enthusiastic students, sparking the birth of Project Pockets. The event’s main goal was to instill the entrepreneurial spirit in young minds and guide them through the process of generating and nurturing startup ideas.
Amidst the brainstorming sessions, our idea emerged as the standout, securing the highest number of votes. This idea, which would later become known as Project Pockets, was proposed by one of our team members - our eventual founder. Collaborating with two equally passionate students, we embarked on a transformative journey. Throughout the event, we received a crash course in entrepreneurship. We learned the significance of creating a Minimum Viable Product (MVP),achieving product-market fit, conducting customer discovery, and employing tools like the Business Model Canvas to structure our ideas.
The three-day event culminated in a thrilling pitch competition judged by mentors from startup basement programs. Project Pockets seized the first-place prize, marking our remarkable journey from a budding idea to a victorious startup. Our event not only kindled the entrepreneurial spirit in us but also equipped us with the knowledge and connections essential for turning our visions into reality. It serves as a testament to the boundless potential of young innovators and the power of fostering entrepreneurship.
